It rained like crazy this evening. So crazy that i thought the water levels would reach me on the 25th floor of the Twin Towers! The rain just kept on falling in sheets, punctuated by thunder and lightning - every few minutes i heard a sharp pinging sound as lightning struck my tower.
When it rains like this, Kuala Lumpur traffic normally jams up in terrific fashion. Having being caught in 3 such jams over the past 2 weeks, i knew that it would be futile to try to go home while the sun was still over the horizon. So i buckled down and decided to wait it out.
For once, i'm thankful that the rain was so heavy, and that i was literally trapped in the tallest building in the world with lightning lashing down on me from all over. Why? Hani was downstairs.
She was in Kino reading comics, just after her meeting with the modelling agency a few blocks away. I asked her whether she would like to come upstairs and see where i worked, she agreed and came to see me once she was done downstairs. We sat at my desk, talked about her life, and i introduced her to my colleagues who were still around and... another fan of her blog (besides me).
Earlier today, Intan was telling me about how impressed she is with some of the blogs i had recommended, especially Hani's describing her writing as "colourful". And now, she was chatting with Hani, via my Messenger connection. After a bit, Hani turned red from blushing, realizing that she had a real fan of her writing! :) It must have been a tremendous experience for Hani: to talk to someone who openly admires her work. And i'm happy that she had a chance to experience it. Her honesty and insight have not only provided entertainment, but also an education - she should know that her readers appreciate her efforts, and, in extension, her life from which her writing is drawn.
Had dinner at San Fran - salad for me and fettucini carbonara with turkey slices for her. We talked about relationships, about the differences between men and women, why women are sucky drivers (generally, speaking), about honesty and truth, about 4 inch heels. She told me about Tariq - about how much she loves him, why he is so right for her, how she fell for him. I told her about Nik, about how i nearly got married a few years ago.
During dinner, she mentioned that she looked good in high heels. I wanted proof. We went shoe shopping, found a pair for her to try on. Verdict: Gosh, s-e-x-y. Hahaha... something in her walk, and the way she holds herself in heels.
Met Nani and Noreen (colleagues of mine) at Topshop, and i was amazed how Hani just seemed to click with them right away. In just a minute, they were chatting like old friends about clothes, and i was completely forgotten!! Hani is that type of person, methinks. Friendly, and approachable.
Walked her to her car, thanked her for her company, and wished her good night. Trudged off to my car feeling very happy, the evening had turned into a surprising delight. Maybe i should wish for it to rain more often.
