Easy things the hard way

As i was leaving the house this morning, i got stuck because a huge tractor was blocking the road. It was one of those trucks that you see in the construction yards; the one with a huge "shovel" in front of it. Patiently waiting for it to move, i wondered what is was doing here, in my neighbourhood where there were no construction projects underway.

Then i realised that it was being used to push down a tree. Immediately, i thought: "That's such a silly thing to do. Why not cut it down? Pushing a tree down? Whoever heard of that?"

A road block

Why do human beings always seem to look for the hard way to do something when an easier route exists?

Ever tried touching your nose by putting your hand around the back of your head?

Its just so silly, but its something we do a lot each and every day. Think about it and you'll agree. The question is why? We're educated, rational, intelligent human beings, but as i watch National Geographic on tv i sometimes think that the animals are the smarter species on this earth. All they have to worry about it what to eat next, which part of their body to lick, and when to have sex.

Gosh, i wish i could have that life... instead of having to worry about so many petty things:

bills
work
studies
family
woman
(*repeated not necessarily in that order ad infinitum on a daily basis)

Life is supposed to be easy - all you need to do is breathe, eat and shit. Why does it seem so hard sometimes? More importantly, why do we make it hard for ourselves most of the time?
