Cheshire's Wedding

Delia Suryani Yahya (who will always be known to me as Cheshire) was married yesterday to Ahmad Zaki Nasaruddin. It was a grand wedding held at the Perdana Grand Ballroom, Dewan Perdana Felda. The wedding was well planned, well executed, the blushing couple a sight to behold, the food good and the entertainment in the form of song and dance excellent.

The blushing couple in all their glory

It was also one of the most enjoyable "dates" i've had in a long time.

They say that many meet their future spouses at weddings. You could say the same "happened" to me. My mother was my companion for the night.

The moment we sat down at the table of 8 strangers, she seemed to draw attention to herself in the most positive way. Before, everyone was sitting on their own, talking to their respective dates, or not saying anything at all. The moment she sat down, she was able to get the table involved in animated discussion about everything that was happening. Everyone listened as she detailed her experiences with weddings over the years. Everyone engaged her in discussion in turn. Her smile brought smiles in return. Her laughter lit up the table and drew laughter from others. In under 10 minutes, she had the names of everyone at the table, and everyone knew her. Over the next 2 hours, you could sense that the 8 strangers that were there before were now replaced by 8 friends.

As i sat next to her, i was raptured by her performance. I was proud of her. I've been out with my mom before on many occasions, and looking back, i think she was able to do this wherever she has been. Its just that before i didn't realize the significance of her talent. Its a talent i want my wife to have.
