Men and sex

Men can be divided into two groups: those who have had sex with a woman and those who haven't.

Those who haven't can be divided into 3 groups: those who are gay, those who want to "save" themselves for marriage, and those who can't find anyone to have sex with/or no one wants to have sex with them.

Those who have had sex can be divided into 2 groups: those who will have sex with anything on two legs (this is a metaphor - two legs are not always required) and those who are discriminate in their selection of sexual partner(s).

Most women i've talked to believe that men in the second group (the ones who have had sex) are mostly of the former variety (those who will sleep with any willing woman). But, in reality and in the defense of the male race, i sincerely believe that men are a very discriminate gender, nearly as much if not as much as most women are. Most men won't sleep with just anyone. Most sexually active men choose their sexual partners carefully.

Certain characteristics need to be present. She should be a person we're attracted to, thus possessing the subjective qualities that make a particular woman attractive to a particular man. She should be a person we can fathom or at least see the possibility of a long-term relationship with, ultimately leading to marriage. Contrary to popular belief, most men do believe the woman they are sleeping with is the woman they will marry. The fact that it often doesn't turn out this way (i.e. they break up), doesn't negate the fact that at the point of copulation, the belief of future marriage is not present.

I suppose none of this makes it any easier to accept the fact that many a woman have had their heart broken by a man she has slept with who later left her with little more than a platonic goodbye. I can understand how the continuous repetition of such incidences would lead to the saying that "men are scum". Maybe men are. But its just as possible that most of us don't mean to be.
