Sleep, the lack of

| | Comments (0)

In an attempt to exercise my mind and blog, i've found that i seriously can't get it up today. Its like one of those absolutely lazy Sunday mornings when you know you need to go for a jog to burn off the excess calories you consumed the night before, but for one reason or another you just can't get out of bed.

But i know "why i'm lethargic today":http://ky.essortment.com/sleepdeprivatio_rloc.htm. "Project Petaling Street":http://www.alphaque.com/article.php?sid=328 has been consuming most of my non-working waking hours. And since i don't have much of that, i eat into my sleep time each night to compensate for the time i just must have to complete the project. Anyone who has experience this will know: 2-3 hours of sleep each night for 5 days in a row takes a "tremendous toll on the mind":http://edition.cnn.com/2000/HEALTH/09/20/sleep.deprivation/.

Physically, i'm as fit as a fiddle. Don't feel weak or tired or anything like that. Looks like the body can function will little sleep, or perhaps it needs to be deprived a lot more before it begins breaking down. But the mind? I reckon, based on how slow mine is working, "it can't take too much punishment":http://health.ucsd.edu/news/2000_02_09_Sleep.html.

Or maybe its just me. Am i a wimp? Not enough sleep makes me a whimpering idiot. What does it do to you? How little sleep does it take to transform your mental skills into that of a 10 year old (discount this question if you actually are 10 years old)?
