I'm organizing a PS2 LAN Party for Winning Eleven 7 lovers (or any of the Winning Eleven series will do). Details below:
Venue: Private Room, The Havana Club, Concorde Hotel
Date: 5 Sept 2003, Friday, 8.30 pm onwards
Game to be played: Winning Eleven 7 (or 6 if most prefer a slightly older version)
Prize: I'll stump up a prize. Winner gets RM30 from me. Cash.
Entrance fee: None. Just bring your body and your thumbs. Would help to have actually played some Winning Eleven games before, otherwise you're going to get your ass whipped. Also, it would be nice if everyone who came buy at least one drink from the establishment. After all, they will be allowing us to use their premises.
Format: Single player tournament - World Cup game; teams selected by ballot. Winner or highest ranked player wins.
Format 2: (If we can get a few PS2 machines linked) Doubles; teams selected by ballot. Pairs play against each other.
Everything is just an idea at this stage. Anyone interested, please email me or leave a comment. If we can get a minimum of 8 people together who will be willing participate, then we can launch this program.
UPDATE: 7 participants confirmed. 1 more slot available. Sign up quick by mailing me if you're interested.
Rules can be found below.
# 8 players will be split into 2 groups of 4 each - within each group everyone will play everyone else. The top team from each group will play each other in the finals.
# Total number of games 6 games in each group, then 1 game grand finals = 13 games. At 10+ minutes per game that means 120 + minutes. Tournament starts at 8.30pm --> therefore expected to end by 10.30pm +
# Team selection will be done through balloting. Every player will be allowed to pick one national (or club team depending on the preference of the majority) that goes into the hat. Therefore there will be 8 teams in the hat. Each player will be asked to randomly draw their team from the hat. Your team will be the one you draw from the hat.
# All playing surfaces and playing conditions will be "Random". Referee will also be random and crowd support will be set to neutral.
# Screen view will be set to default.
# At the start of each game, players are given a maximum of 2 minutes to customize their team in any way they want. No loading of tactics from Memory Cards will be allowed.
# During the game, players are allowed one Time Out each lasting no more than 1 minute per person to adjust their team. Team adjustments during halftime will also be allowed for a maximum of 2 minutes.
# Games will be played 90 minutes (10 minutes in real-time). Group games will allow for draws. In the Grand Final, draws after 90 minutes will be settled by a penalty shoot-out. Only 1 minute will be allowed for the selection of penalty takers.
# Winners in the groups stage will be awarded 3 points. Draws 1 point. Losses 0 points.
# Tie breakers in group stage will be decided via goal difference first. Then higher goals scored. Then lower goals conceded. Then head-to-head record. Then flip of the coin.
