I overheard this today.
A Muslim colleague said to a Chinese colleague, "I can't wish you a Happy Chinese New Year because its unIslamic to do so."
My Chinese colleague just smiled.
Hearing this exchange, really, really upset me. Un-ISLAMIC?? OH, COME ON!!!!!
